A holistic approach

At HOV we develop all aspects needed to become the best musician possible through our specialised programs across all ages, levels, styles and backgrounds.

With extensive education in technique, theory and performance within all our specialised programs and disciplines. Our teachers are all graduates of the most prestigious music universities in the country: VCA/Melbourne University/WAAPA music programs across Bachelor, Honours and Masters programs all passionate in their quest to pass on this training, alongside personal and HOV methodologies.

HOV provides students the opportunity to improve not only their technique and performance, but gain skills in shifting their blocks (whether mental or physical) and gaining musical artistry within their instrument.

HOV maintains a fun, holistic and interactive approach to music training, educating students in technique, awareness training, the body and how it can efficiently produce sound either through the body (in singing) or with the instrument (piano/guitar) without strain/effort giving students techniques which promote good vocal health or body health (through guitar/piano) on top of technique, so as to have more efficiency and stamina. Through this ease, we can truly have our most authentic musical experience, enhancing the joy of music!

We believe in fostering supported learning, where students and teachers are in a “team” with a common goal to transform each individual students musical expression. We go out of our way to make learning a safe space where you may grow and develop knowing that you are an important member of the HOV collective and that your teacher is by your side every step of the way.

Straying from the one size fits all approach, HOV has a strong emphasis on the individual, focusing on students key strengths, eliminating inefficient habitual patterns and developing individual programs to set musicians on the path to becoming their best!

The House of Voice found its name from a metaphoric concept used to illustrate to students the importance of  building strong instrumental/vocal technique, and the importance of why it is vital for musical success and longevity.

Your instrument is much like a house. You would never begin building your dream house by building the roof first. So why would you start learning an instrument and choose to overlook the important foundations of fundamental technique when building your skills within your instrument?

You have to lay the foundations and build from the ground up, brick by brick, wall by wall, window by window. And if you don’t, at some point down the line, the cracks will begin to show either through undesirable habits blocking your best playing or in relation to singers, vocal failure or vocal loss.

So why not start building with every brick when laying the foundations, so that your house can deliver your voice through whatever instrument that may be.

If you can speak you can sing!

Despite what past teachers, friends, family society or past experiences have told you, HOV will prove you and them wrong!

Whilst HOV loves working with our many gifted and talented singers with natural ability/potential evident before training. HOV can teach anyone to sing and unlock their sound however rough their edges.

If we know what it means to build, tend and utlise the voice within our bodies we uncover our true sound and obtain vocal alignment.

We can say this because we are that confident in the tools and training offered here at The House of Voice.

Banish those harsh critics and the long held beliefs that becoming a capable singer is impossible. It was until you discovered the right training!

HOV works with both professional singers and absolute beginners alike – training singers with less than 3-5 note range up to a 3 octave range in a matter of months!

Whilst we refer to building the voice at The House of Voice really we mean building your body or rather teaching it to let go and align in the right areas- the voice is already there in essence.

We just need the House (your body) to house it properly!

So with the right focus, passion and the desire to set in place processes that may be familiar or foreign to the body – you can enjoy the joys of singing!

With extensive education in vocal anatomy and pedagogy, HOV provides vocalists the opportunity to gain skills both as a singer and as a musician, whilst improving technique and artistry.
