Alisha Gartland

Director and Head Vocal Coach

Alisha Gartland is a graduate of Melba Conservatorium of Music (Dip.Mus) and the Victorian College of the Arts (B. Mus in Musical Performance: Voice) whom has studied and worked professionally as a contemporary pop, musical theatre and opera singer.

Alisha teaches many students from beginners (of all ages) to students already working in the music industry, rebuilding technique, developing vocal style within original songs as well as preparing auditions. All students whom completed their AMEB Certificates/VCE under Alisha’s guidance have received A Honours/Credit results in both CPM & Singing for Leisure from Preliminary to Grade 7.

Elizabeth Mitchell

Songwriting Coach

Elizabeth is the front woman to the international touring act ‘Totally Mild ‘, who have been nominated for multiple awards for Carlton Dry AIR Awards, Australian Music Prize Awards and Age Victoria Music Awards.

Elizabeth has been described as having a voice of “unearthly beauty, capable of soaring and swooping in shiver-inducing ways. As a songwriter “equally arresting, addressing desires and dreams with affecting frankness”. Elizabeth’s teaching is tailored with individualised content, making sure students have a strong foundation of tools to express themselves authentically. Without judgement, ideas are refined to make art that resonates with the student, that both consolidates and expands their sense of themselves as artists whilst having a lot of fun!

Nathan Teo

Piano & Piano for Singers Coach

Nathan Teo is a graduate of the University of Melbourne having studied for his Bachelor of Music in Piano. He has performed classical piano and contemporary repertoire at both at the Conservatorium and public events in Melbourne as a piano soloist and accompanist. He actively performs with the Melbourne Bach Choir and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus and is a recipient of the 2019 Melbourne Bach Choir Scholarship where he sings as a tenor. He currently conducts the Citylight Choir and has performed at various community centres, concert venues and events as a pianist conductor, choral accompanist and chorister across Melbourne and Malaysia.

Jonathon Moore

Guitar & Guitar for Singers Coach

Jonathon is now available as the expert guitar tutor here at the House of Voice. Jonathon is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts where he specialised in jazz and improvisation, studying under some of Australia’s finest musicians such as Stephen Magnusson, Chris Hale, Geoff Hughes, Andrea Keller, David Jones and many more. Jonathon is also currently completing his Master’s Master of Music (Performance Teaching) at the University of Melbourne.

Lauren Burns

Vocal Coach

Lauren Burns is a Melbourne based lyric coloratura soprano with a flame for music and singing in all it’s forms. In 2017, Lauren graduated with high distinction from a Bachelor of Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Lauren then proceeded to The University of Melbourne to complete her honours year under Head of Voice, Stephen Grant. Lauren has extensively studied Voice, Western Art Music history, conducting, theory, harmony and aural skills. For a number of years she has also studied acting, as well as French, German, Italian, Spanish and Latin language and diction.

Songwriting Workshop Facilitator

Phoebe Baker is co-frontwoman, vocalist, and songwriter of Melbourne-based indie-pop band Alpine. Signed to Ivy League Records in Australia and Votiv in North America, the band has released the EP ‘Zurich’ (2010) and the albums ‘A Is For Alpine’ (2012) and ‘Yuck’ (2015).

Songwriting and Artist Mentoring Coach

Olivia Hally is most well-known as the front woman of internationally-touring outfit, Oh Pep!.

She has been featured in the New York Times and Rolling Stone, and has toured the Europe, North America and Australia with the Mountain Goats, Lake Street Dive, Nathaniel Ratliff, Lord Huron, Valerie June and Martha Wainwright and Billy Bragg, who personally invited her to perform on his Left Field stage at Glastonbury.
